Reflection: If You Give a Mouse a Cookie is an adorable picture book that starts off with a boy giving a mouse a cookie to eat.  The mouse then asks for a glass of milk and then a straw to go with it.  The mouse continues to ask for things related to the previous item he was given, showing a cause and effect pattern.  This cause and effect pattern keeps children engaged and they continue to wonder and guess what the mouse will do next as the story progresses.  The story ends with the boy giving the mouse another cookie, showing the repetition of cause and effect cycles.
