Reflection: I’ve Been Working on the Railroad is a classic, American song that has
been written and illustrated by Westcott in this book.  The lively melody of this song keeps the children focused on the book.  The lyrics also use both rhyming, alliteration, and other forms of repetition that keep the children attentive.  It also begins to teach children patriotic values because it is an American classic.  What stuck out particularly in this book was that you could spot the train somewhere in every image since “working on the railroad” is the main theme of the song/book.
