Reflection: Who Took the Cookies from the Cookie Jar is a colorful book that teaches the names of animals and has children guessing what animal is going to be depicted next with clues like a feather, a tail sticking out, and lily pads.  The book uses repetition to tell the story of a skunk whose cookies go missing from his cookie jar and his search to find out who took them.  As the skunk follows the cookie crumb trail he repeats “who took the cookies from the cookie jar? The jar was full! Where did they go? Mmm… Oh!... Now I know.” after spotting clues on the trail.  The next page has the accused animal’s name in italics “Mouse” with the repeated line “_____ took the cookies from the cookie jar!”  The animals each reply with rhyming excuse that it wasn’t them and follow the skunk to the end of the trail which brings him to the ants.  The ants reply with “You’re right, It’s true.  But there’s enough for all of you!” and all the animals eat the cookies and end up playing together.  This book teaches sharing and getting along together.
