Reflection: Read It, Don’t Eat It! uses clothed animals to demonstrate what not to do to
books and how they should be handled.  The rhyming text and realistic colorful illustrations in permanent ink and acrylic paint describe and show the animals damaging the books in various scenes.  The book introduces library terms, “overdue, renew, censor, deface,” to build vocabulary and at the end of the book it teaches how books should be handled and used.  Children are told to share the book with others and to go out and read another.  Children will find this “do’s and don’t” book entertaining while learning rules that can be applied to library books.
